LIMNIONA 2014 - FILIA GI

SORRY GUYS, WE RAN OUT OF THIS ONE

The Starlet of Greek wine!

SEND PAGE TO FRIEND

Why do we love it?

You can’t quite call her a star yet. But you can certainly name her a starlet. Playful, interesting, attractive, the Limniona is one of the relatively unknown Greek varieties that already show they will soon play a leading role in some of the greatest Greek red wines.

Extremely elegant, the best Limnionas strongly remind of Burgundy. So yes, you understood correctly that the Limniona 2014 by Domaine Filia Gi is a Limniona at its finest, with the exemplary integrated barrel allowing you to distinguish all the wonderful fruity aromas of the variety.

The Domaine Filia Gi is at the foot of Agrafa, in the village of Filia Karditsa. In the region called Vines for rather obvious reasons, the cultivation and promotion of Limniona is the main bet of the innovative, beautiful and energy autonomous winery.

With so many charismas and an amazing value for money, it is really impossible to resist. We challenge you to try it. We are sure it will definitely surprise you and you will probably worship it like we did. Maybe even more ...

Tastes Like

Attractive shiny purple with violet hues in the glass.

Beautiful, enjoyable nose with intense aromas of violet and carnation. Then comes the turn of cherry, sour cherry, mature red raspberry and plum. The bouquet is completed by unique spicy notes of cinnamon and clove.

Elegant on the palate, with medium-volume body, gentle acidity and soft tannins. Here fruits have the leading role with mature cherry and strawberry standing out. The second sip brings the barrel in the spotlight with vanilla, wood, cinnamon and allspice while an impressive herbal sense of black tea remains in the long-lasting aftertaste.

LIMNIONA 2014 - FILIA GI

PAIR IT

Pair with spaghetti bolognese, Smyrna meatballs, meat pie or yellow middle-aged cheeses.

Meat pie with kataifi pastry

  • 1/2 pack of kataifi pastry
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 ml of fresh milk (at room temperature)
  • 250 g beef minced meat
  • 5 tomatoes grated on the grater
  • 2 tbsps. of barbecue sauce
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 red peppers
  • 2 tbsps. of herbs (basil, thyme, throubi)
  • 200 g gruyere grated
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsps. breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsps. melted butter
  • salt
  • freshly ground pepper

Cut all vegetables into small pieces.

Saute the onion with some olive oil in a saucepan. Cut the carrots in slices and add them to the pot along with the garlic and the tomatoes. Then add the minced meat and the BBQ sauce. Add salt, pepper and herbs. Lower the temperature and let the sauce shimmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Finally, add the gruyere and peppers.

Butter a pyrex baking dish and sprinkle it with the breadcrumbs. Divide the kataifi pastry into two equal parts. Lay half of the kataifi and spread it with the fingers on the pyrex. Empty the stuffing and cover with the rest of the kataifi, after flicking it with your fingers. Cut with knife into pieces. In a bowl, beat the eggs with the milk and pour the mixture over the pie.
