A gift of great value!

Buying a plot during a random hiking on Mount Olympus was the beginning of one of the most historic and most recognized Greek wineries. The doctor Dimitris Katsaros in the mid-70s, was enchanted by the view of the village Kraniá with only 65 inhabitants, at an altitude of 810 meters.

There he decided, with the help of his wife Stella, to cultivate international varieties considered to be better suited to the microclimate of the area. Invested in Cabernet Sauvignon, the Merlot and the Chardonnay and as demonstrated over the years, it fell out.

Continuer of his work, his son Euripides Katsaros, took over the winery in 2007 after the oenological studies in Bordeaux and Burgundy.

The historic Domaine Katsaros Red is one of the most typical and expressive versions of the Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot in Greece.

Exclusively on botilia.gr, enjoy a very limited vertical collection of three exceptional vintages of Domaine Katsaros Red from the years of 2007, 2008 and 2009. Three years different, unique. Only common factors are an exceptional vineyard, great quality raw material and a young winemaker with knowledge and wine culture like few others.

Whether you are a collector, wine lover or just want to enjoy one of the greatest Greek red wines, the paper case of Domaine Katsaros is full of hidden treasures.

If you have a cold heart and send it as a gift, keep in mind that it is hard to find anything like it.

Domaine Katsaros 2009

Moderate purple color with intense violet hues.

The nose initially dominated by vegetable elements such as pepper and wet leaves, surrounded by the smell of damp soil. After a while, aromas of mature cherry, casis, plum and currant spring from the glass. Licorice, allspice, cinnamon, wood and tobacco express the beautifully integrated barrel while cocoa and black tea leaves complete the rich aromatic profile.

Medium volume body with moderate acidity and lively tannins that still reveal a wine that is "flattered" by aging. Intense sweet cherry, forest fruits, vanilla and caramel aromas stand out in the mouth while the long, wonderful aftertaste leaves a feeling of bitter chocolate in the mouth.

Domaine Katsaros 2008

Moderate purple color in the glass.

Intense cinnamon, allspice and pepper nose with beautiful subtle hints of violet. Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry and dried figs appear gradually and animal hints, smoke, earth and wet leaves uniquely complement the complex aromatic palette.

On the palate, medium-bodied, with high acidity and black tea tannins in perfect balance. Cherry, casis, blackcurrant, oak, cocoa and coffee are accompanied by sweet spices. The long finish leaves a velvety feel of vanila in the mouth.

Domaine Katsaros 2007

Medium intensity ruby color in the glass that shows its age.

It needs time to breathe but it will definately reward you for your patience. The nose features aromas of a typical Bordeaux blend: cherry, casis, dried plum and cigar tobacco dominate. Allusions of leather, green pepper and the sense of the forest after rain complete the impressive set.

Moderate volume body with balanced acidity and robust tannins despite its age. Ripe cherry, fig, plum and blackcurrant notes are complimented by leather and coffee, resulting in a long, spicy finish.
