Why do we love it?

From time to time we wonder how they did it!

In the miniature, border island of Lipsi, two winemakers and good friends, Manolis Vavoulas and Nikos Gryllis, decided in 2010 to join forces to create a small, boutique winery. While it may sound strange, the island has a long history in wine and in the past was famous for the sweet, local wine with which it supplied the Vatican in very significant quantities.

Working with the ancient indigenous variety Fokiano which withstands the drought and hardships of the island, they have combined their winemaking experience and traditional methods of the island with the most modern oenological techniques, wanting to revive the legend of the past. Following tradition, Aposperitis 2013 by Lipsi Winery is produced from grapes left to over-ripen on the plant and then cut and spread out in the sun for a few days to dry, thus raising the sugar content of the remaining juice. After that, the precious juice remains in French oak barrels for two years, gaining volume, velvety texture and captivating aromas and flavors.

The Aposperitis 2014 by Lipsi Winery is one of the most beautiful sweet wines we have tasted for a long time. Whether you're a sweet wine lover, or just want finish a nice dinner, Aposperitis 2013 is an excellent choice. Do not fear to age it further for at least 15 more years.
