Why do we love it?

L' Esprit du Lac 2019, is one of those rosés that if they get into your glass, it will be very difficult to do without. Lakes, four in total, and old Xinomavro vines star in this elegant rose wine of Ktima Kir- Yianni.

The four lakes of the Amyndeon plateau cool the hot summers that can be unbearable. For the production of L' Esprit du Lac only the best grapes from the old vines of the historic vineyard of Kali Riza, in the area of Agios Panteleimonas, are used. According to the saignee method, the free-run juice is removed shortly after crushing the grapes and after a short maceration with the skins. This is how it acquires that amazing pale salmon color and its delicate aromatic character.

Its name means "the Spirit of the Lake" and since it is so light and refreshing it suits it perfectly. L' Esprit du Lac is the answer of Ktima Kir- Yianni to the French roses that flood the market. And according to our opinion, it’s a pretty staggering answer since no other rose wine can accompany that ideally summery, Mediterranean dishes like stuffed tomatoes.

It has pale salmon color with light orange hues and elegant aromas of rose, orange blossom, strawberry, cherry, peach, grapefruit, pomegranate and tomato leaves. Delicious and juicy mouth with medium body and refreshing acidity.

with seafood pasta, spicy dishes of Asian cuisine or stuffed tomatoes.

Steamed mussels with turmeric

  • 700 g mussels
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 Garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp.  turmeric
  • 1 glass of white wine
  • Olive oil
  • Salt (Optional)
  • Pepper

Wash the mussels under plenty of water, removing the sand and seaweed and thoroughly cleaning the shell.

Saute the onion and garlic and add the mussels. Then add 1 tablespoon sweet turmeric and one glass of wine. Let the alcohol evaporate a little and cover the pot to boil for 5'-6 '.

Agitate the pot, remove the cover and serve on a deep dish.

Add freshly ground pepper (salt is optional) and garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme.

TIP: During the wash, throw the open mussels. After cooking,  throw the closed mussels.
