Why do we love it?

It's probably one of those things that we do not need to say a lot.

But we can’t help it.

Lakes, four in total, and old Xinomavro vines star in the new wine of Ktima Kir- Yianni. Limited production, exclusively from the Kali Riza vineyard, L' Esprit du Lac 2018, is one of those rosés that if they get into your glass, it will be very difficult to do without. Until they get sold out.

The four lakes of the Amyndeon plateau cool and moisten the hot summers that can be destructive for the wine. For the production of L' Esprit du Lac only the best grapes from the old vines of the historic vineyard of the Kali Riza are used in the area of ​​Agios Panteleimonas. With the saignee method, the raw juice is removed shortly after the breakage of the grapes and after a short time with the grape skins. Then the fermentation takes place in a separate tank without the skins.

His name, rather playfully, means "the Spirit of the Lake". Light and refreshing, L' Esprit du Lac is the answer of Ktima Kir- Yianni to the French roses that flood the world market. He came to put the glasses in many of them and already does it.

Tastes Like

Gentle, bright salmon with light orange shades.

Nose full of finesse, with a floral character that acquires fruity substance with time. Rose petals, hyacinth and orange blossoms are followed by strawberry and cherry. Peach, grapefruit, pomegranate and tomato leaves complete the delicate bouquet.

Medium-volume mouth with a finessy feel and refreshing acidity. Mature apple, saguin, pomegranate and grapefruit stand out and insist on long-lasting aftertaste.

with seafood pasta, spicy dishes of Asian cuisine or stuffed tomatoes.

Steamed mussels with turmeric

  • 700 g mussels
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 Garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp.  turmeric
  • 1 glass of white wine
  • Olive oil
  • Salt (Optional)
  • Pepper

Wash the mussels under plenty of water, removing the sand and seaweed and thoroughly cleaning the shell.

Saute the onion and garlic and add the mussels. Then add 1 tablespoon sweet turmeric and one glass of wine. Let the alcohol evaporate a little and cover the pot to boil for 5'-6 '.

Agitate the pot, remove the cover and serve on a deep dish.

Add freshly ground pepper (salt is optional) and garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme.

TIP: During the wash, throw the open mussels. After cooking,  throw the closed mussels.
