What could happen if Santorini met Crete? A miracle or specifically Rizes 2! A collectible, 1500 bottle wine that combines the two great terroirs and the two great white varieties of Greece.
The oenologist, Iliana Malichin, along with the viticulturist, Spyros Chryssos, a former associate of the late Hatzidakis, decided to unite Assyrtiko and Vidiano, Santorini and Crete. Vidiano comes from an 80-year-old, pre-phylloxera vineyard in Fourfoura of Crete, at the foot of Psiloritis. Assyrtiko is from Louros of Santorini, from a 90-year-old pre-phylloxera vineyard. The two varieties were vinified separately, with indigenous yeasts and met in the bottle without any further intervention. Rizes 2 has managed to fit into one bottle the amazing concentration of Louros and the aromatic richness of Vidiano.
It's sublime now but something tells us that time will make it even better.
