Why do we love it?

There are wines that change the way you see a variety or even a whole region. Blanc de Gris of Domaine Tselepos is clearly one of them.

Yiannis Tselepos, the master of the genre, loves his beloved white variety in a unique way. Lees, batonnage, cold extractions, and impeccable technical management give Moschofilero a completely different feel than it’s accustomed to. His secret? Fermentation may start in the tanks but at some point, the wine is carefully moved in oak barrels until the end of the fermentation process.

Yes, all the tingling flowers and fruits that you are there. In the palate, however, things change. If you expect a classic light, almost non-substantial Moschofilero, prepare for great surprises. The Blanc de Gris of Domaine Tselepos has a surprising mouthfeel and texture. Its complexity and tasty length will excite you. And all this from Moschofilero!

We bow at Yiannis Tselepos for this. We raise a glass too!

Tastes Like

Unique gentle silky white-yellow color with slim shades. Do not forget, of course, that Moschofilero is a reddish variety.

Impressive intensity and finesse on the nose. Bright floral aromas, mainly jasmine, rosewood, rose and lemon are complemented by citrus and pear. Apricot and lime complete the rich aromatic set while the touch of oak is soft, adding complexity to the bouquet.

On the palate, elaborately incorporated sharp acidity in a rich fruity body. The aromas of fruit and flowers are even more intense and distinct in the mouth. The perfectly balanced ensemble closes with a long buttery aftertaste which remains in the palate for a while.

5 + 1 BLANC DE GRIS 2023 - DOMAINE TSELEPOS

PAIR IT

with a salmon salad, pad thai, asparagus omelets, and cooked dishes of Greek cuisine.

Shrimps with garlic and lemon

  • 500 gr. jumbo sized shrimps. Defrost them if they are frozen. If they are not pre-peeled, peel them when they have defrosted.)
  • 2 tbsps. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 2 tbsps. fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tbsp. lemon zest
  • salt

If you use frozen shrimps, let them defrost overnight in the fridge. Drain the shrimps and dry them with kitchen towel.

Zest a large lemon and then squeeze the juice to give at least 2 tablespoons of juice and close to half a tablespoon of lemon zest. Clean the garlic and finely chop  it.

Heat the olive oil in medium to high heat, then add the butter to melt.

Add the shrimps to a single layer and leave until they start getting pink color at the edges, no longer than 1-2 minutes.

Turn the shrimps on the other side and add the chopped garlic. Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes. Pour in the lemon juice, add the lemon zest and salt to taste and mix to cover the shrimps with the sauce.
