The kings of the mountains have a white brother, Le Roi des Montagnes Assyrtiko by Papargyriou Winery!

You understand that there is no way Yiannis Papargyriou would let a wine ascend to the throne if it was not at least equal to its two siblings. He has been experimenting for a long time. As expected, the variety he chose was Assyrtiko. An Assyrtiko, overly ripe, as you can imagine, which was harvested as late as possible. It matured in second use, French Seguin Moreau 500lt oak barrels, with regular batonnage, as Yiannis likes it.

With Le Roi des Montagnes Assyrtiko by Papargyriou Winery, you will discover how concentrated fruit, sharp acidity, and take-home finish feels like. Alcohol exceeds the limits (14,5%), but it is so well integrated you won’t feel it either on the palate or the nose

The very few, numbered Le Roi des Montagnes Assyrtiko bottles do not seem to last long. We took ours home, just in case.

It has a deep lemon color with golden hues. Intense and complex nose with dominant aromas of honey, orange peel, dried apricot, ripe peach, lemon, and bergamot. The barrel is almost imperceptible, giving notes of vanilla and toffee, without even touching the exuberant fruit.

Exuberant mouth following the nose, with noticeable tannins (yes, tannins), moderate (+) body, and sharp acidity. The fruit here is dense, juicy, ripe. Orange, bitter orange, sweet lemon, apricot, nectarine, and kumquat on a background of honey, vanilla and sweet walnut. Intense oily sensation and enjoyable, long citrusy aftertaste.
