Continuing the thousand–year viticultural and wine tradition, Father Epifanios leads the group of monks of Mylopotamos, the biggest glebe of the holy Monastery Agia Lavra in Agio Oros, in their effort to revive the historic vineyard of the area. Along with father Ioakeim and with the initial help of John Boutaris and John Vogiatzis, they planted the first grapevines of the new vineyard in 1993.
The vineyard is extended on the slope next to the sea, favoured by the sea breeze and the ideal oriantation which grants plenty of sunshine. There they grow with biological methods the red varieties of Limnio, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot which meet in a red wine that combines both tradition and modern vinification technics under the supervision of the experienced oenologist Andreas Matamis.
Mylopotamos Red 2011 is a biological red wine that impresses not only with its history and origin but with its aromas and flavours as well.
Enjoy it now or mature it for 5 more years.
