The Vounaina region of Larissa has proven itself capable of producing exceptional wines, thanks in large part to its unique microclimate. But the unwavering commitment of the Karipidis family who have been crafting wines that reflect the authenticity and quality of the Greek vineyard since 1908, is what truly sets it apart. With a focus on organic cultivation of international varieties, their Merlot 2020 was aged in new French oak barrels for 16 months, adding depth and complexity.

The result? A wine with all the classic aromatic hallmarks of the variety ripe plum and dark chocolate framed beautifully by elegant oak influence.

Tastes Like

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with purple highlights. On the nose, it bursts with rich aromas of violet, plum, blueberry, black cherry, blackberry, vanilla, chocolate, and hints of spice and cinnamon.

On the palate, it has a full body, smooth tannins, and a subtle creaminess. Its fresh acidity balances the dense fruit perfectly. Flavors of dried plum, cherry, berry, dark chocolate, vanilla, allspice, and clove unfold in every sip.

MERLOT 2020 - DOMAINE KARIPIDIS

PAIR IT

Pair it with red meats and spicy cheeses or enjoy it on its own

Arugula salad with smoked salmon, avocado and roasted almond

  • 300 grams of arugula as fresh as possible
  • 200 g of smoked salmon
  • 50 g roasted almonds
  • an avocado, thickly cut
  • a little dill
  • a little fennel
  • 50 g of oil
  • 2 lemons
  • a little orange juice
  • salt
  • pepper
  • three types of peppercorns: green, red, black

Cut salmon in strips. Marinate for 3 hours in the refrigerator, in a bowl of lemon juice, finely chopped dill and fennel, pepper and a little olive oil. Mix by hand to combine all the ingredients.

Chop the roasted almonds.

Put the peppercorns in the mortar and break them lightly to release their aromas.

In a large salad bowl, cut the arugula in large pieces, add the avocado, pour over the salmon strips and sprinkle with pepper and roasted almond.

While serving, sprinkle with a dressing of: lemon, salt, a little orange juice and minimum olive oil, that we have previously mix well.
