Why do we love it?
We know you wanted it and you were looking for it everywhere, so we managed to find the last, very few, collectible bottles of Nostos Mourvedre Manousakis Winery. It is one of the most impressive and rare wines of the Cretan vineyard and now, fortunately, it can be yours as well!

The majestic winery in Vatolakkos, Chania is a reference point both for its excellent wines and for the unique tastings and guided tours it organizes. Father Manousakis founded the family winery in 1993 when he returned from the States, where he lived for years. He chose to give his wines the name Nostos because during the years he lived as an immigrant he missed his Crete every day (nostos from nostalgia). The return of his daughter, Alexandra, after 14 years, was what changed everything. The family united around a bunch of grapes, determined to create the best they could from their blessed land. Thirteen years later, Manousakis Winery rightfully belongs to the most remarkable Greek wineries, which shine abroad.

Nostos Mourvedre is their pride. A vineyard at 320-380 meters, with old and young vines, gives its best fruit. This is followed by classic red vinification in oak tanks and maceration for 20 days, which gives a deep color and robust tannins. The wine ages in French (75%) and American (25%) barrels for 12 months and is bottled unfiltered in a few rare bottles.

Nostos Mourvedre Manousakis Winery is the ultimate gift for every wine collector!

NOSTOS MOURVEDRE 2019 - MANOUSAKIS WINERY

PAIR IT

Pair it with a slow-cooked wild boar in wine sause, Ossobuco with risotto Milanese, or a dry-aged buffalo steak.

Wild boar casserole with tagliatelle pasta

  • 1 kilogram of wild boar
  • 1 carrot coarsely chopped
  • 1 celery coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 bunch of fresh onions finely chopped
  • 1/2 bunch of parsley finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3 tbsps. of mustard
  • 3 tbsps. of lemon juice
  • 5 allspice berries
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper
  • 200 g olive oil
  • 250 ml red wine (preferably xinomavro)
  • 500 g of tagliatelle

Cut the wild boar in portions. Put all the ingredients in a bowl, except olive oil and pasta. Marinate for at least 12 hours.

When we are ready for cooking, remove the boar from the marinade, drain it to leave the many liquids and sauté with the oil until it gets golden-brown. Add the marinade and lower the heat to simmer for 30 minutes.

Transfer them all to the casserole and put it in a preheated oven, at 150 ° C. Stir regularly to keep liquids from sticking. If more liquids are needed, add some vegetable broth.

Boil the pasta according to the instructions (preferably al dente).

Garnish with a little chopped parsley over the plate.
