New and very impressive expression of Syrah!

Why do we love it?

Nouvella I has a different and intensely fruity character, which you should definitely try! A wine that expresses a new and very impressive expression of Syrah. The black fruit combined with the peppery and herbal notes of the variety will make you love it!

The elegant Zin Ideos Winery is located in Loutraki Almopias, next to Loutra Pozar. The Gatsos family, which is behind it, cultivates Greek local varieties, as well as international ones. Their privately owned vineyards now extend over 100 acres, in three different places, in the wider area of Almopia. Each variety is grown in the place and soil that best suits it, to give its best character. In the Loutraki and Neromylos vineyards, Syrah, at an altitude of 260-300 meters, has found the ideal terroir, to create a very fresh and juicy wine. The very careful vinification for 14 months in stainless steel tanks and the remaining for another 4 months in contact with the lees, compose an intensely fruity character, in an excellently structured wine, with velvety tannins.

Nouvella I perfectly glorifies the unexplored terroir of Almopia and brings you one step closer to the ultimate purpose of the winery. "A life with pleasure, addressed to everyone", in a few words Zin Ideos!

Tastes Like

In the glass, it has a lively, deep red color with purple highlights. Intense aromas of fresh black cherries, sour cherries, violets, and lilacs. Sweet spices, such as cinnamon, cloves, and allspice, are very subtle and combined with soft notes of herbal aromas, lend to a special elegance.

In the mouth, it has a medium (+) body, with well-formed gentle tannins. Juicy fruit, mainly cherry, plum, cassis, and blackberry. It has intense botanic aromas, in the form of purple flowers, violets, and lavender, which balance perfectly with its peppery character.

Kebabs with yogurt sauce

for kebabs

  • 300 gr. ground beef
  • 300 gr. ground lamb
  • 1 tsp. tomato paste
  • 5 tbsps. of milk
  • ½ cube of beef stock
  • 1½ tbsp. of butter (preferably sheep)
  • 1 tbsp. lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp. of pine nuts
  • 1 ¼ tsp. of cumin
  • ½ tsp. of smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp. of allspice
  • ½ tsp. of dry coriander
  • ¼ tsp. of cinnamon
  • Black pepper

for the sauce

  • 1½ tbsp of tomato paste
  • 350 gr. concassed tomatoes
  • ½ cube of beef stock
  • 250 ml. water, tepid
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tbsp. of sugar
  • Chili flakes optional
  • Thyme
  • Cumin
  • Red pepper
  • Olive oil

You will also need

  • Yogurt
  • Fresh coriander, parsley or mint
  • Pitta bread

Put all spices, zest and pine nuts on the mortar and shred them. In a bowl add the tomato paste, the spices and the melted butter. In the milk, dissolve ¼ of the beef stock cube, mix and add to the mixture. After kneading for 5 to 7 minutes, we make kebabs in the corresponding shape. Put the kebabs in the refrigerator and leave for 1 hour. In a frying pan, mix all the ingredients of the sauce together and simmer until it thickens. Roast the kebabs and pitta breads on a charcoal grill or in the oven. After the kebabs are cooked, put them on the pitta breads by adding plenty of sauce, yogurt and chili flakes, preferably!
