Why do we love it?

After Amalia Brut and Amalia Rose, Amalia Vintage is next. The master of Moschofilero, Yiannis Tselepos, bets on his favorite variety for the preparation of a grande, premium Greek sparkling wine. From a single vintage, Amalia Vintage 2018 proves that Moschofilero in the hands of the right person can be the stuff of bubbly dreams.

After all, what does it take to produce an excellent sparkling wine? First, a variety capable of producing wines with low alcohol and high acidity. Mmmm, let's think... Do you think that Moschofilero is suitable for this?

Second, a bubble orchestrator. A man of knowledge, talent and unique patience. Yiannis Tselepos sounds like an ideal choice.

The production process of Tselepos Estate's Amalia Vintage 2018 is significantly different from that of Amalia Brut. The excellent quality raw material came from a single vineyard in the Perpatiara area. The year 2018 was ideal, bearing absolutely healthy fruit. After the first alcoholic fermentation, the base wine was bottled with a small amount of sugar in order to start the second (autolytic) fermentation in the bottle, following the laborious, traditional method of Campania (methode traditionelle).

He remained there for almost two years. With daily turning of the bottle (riddling) the remaining yeasts were removed and in the final stage the Liqueur d`Expedition (same wine with added must) was added to balance the high levels of acidity and cover any process losses.

Utterly refined, with a velvety texture and palate-tickling bubbles, Amalia Vintage 2018 is the stuff of dreams. The one with the bubbles...

Pale lemon color with rosy hues.

Moderate nose, expressive and lasting. Turkish delight, red rose and bergamot set the tone. Jasmine, pear and toasted bread complete the complex aromatic bouquet.

Moderate volume body with velvety, stable foaming with multiple strings. The refreshing acidity is very well balanced by the residual sugars of the dosage. The Turkish delight insists on the palate, along with rose water, sweet lemon, grapefruit and orange zest. The long, velvety finish leaves sweet jasmine feel in the mouth.

PAIR IT

Pair it with oysters, soft white cheese, fruit or by itself as aperitif.

Steamed mussels with turmeric

  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 Garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp.  turmeric
  • 1 glass of white wine
  • Olive oil
  • Salt (Optional)
  • Pepper

Wash the mussels under plenty of water, removing the sand and seaweed and thoroughly cleaning the shell.

Saute the onion and garlic and add the mussels. Then add 1 tablespoon sweet turmeric and one glass of wine. Let the alcohol evaporate a little and cover the pot to boil for 5'-6 '.

Agitate the pot, remove the cover and serve on a deep dish.

TIP: During the wash, throw the open mussels. After cooking,  throw the closed mussels.
