Taketsuru Pure Malt is an exceptional pure malt whisky that honors Nikka founder Masataka Taketsuru, the man who brought the art of distilling from Scotland to Japan. With the establishment of the Nikka distillery in 1934 in the city of Yoichi and the release of the first whisky in 1940, Masataka is considered the “father” of Japanese whisky, and Nikka is now the second largest whisky producer in Japan.
Taketsuru Pure Malt was first released in 2020 with a specific recipe and label. This grand undertaking was undertaken by Masataka’s successors to honor him for the art of distilling they inherited from him. It is a blend of malt whiskies mainly from the Miyagikyo distillery, with an average aging of around 10 years, with no specific age stated. The whisky's composition combines elegance with intense complexity, offering a flawless balance of flavors and a rich palate feel.
Taketsuru Pure Malt is a powerful yet smooth whisky full of aromas of red fruit, milk chocolate, dried stone fruit, tobacco and peppery notes.
