Confirming expectations!

The star we all loved wears its best dress and returns new, fresh and of course explosive. The 2016 vintage sold out before summer and left us looking forward to more Malagouzia from Mpougiouris Estate. 2017 vintage is here and is more aromatic than ever. With a slightly changed label but with the content we love like none other, it returns once more giving value-for-money lessons.

In case you do not know what we are talking about, we will briefly tell you that Malagouzia 2017 Mpougiouris Estate is a wine from the Kithaironas Plateau, made by 3 young brothers. Every year it takes Greek and International wine competitions by surprise, collecting gold medals and great prizes, making its price look minimal compared to its distinctions and quality. One more thing. It is the wine that will delight everyone at a table, from demanding wine lovers to tough guys who do not even like wine.

This year Giannis, Kostas and Dimitris Mpougiouris are confident that this is their best vintage so far and are really excited about the aromatic bomb they created.

We will only tell you that they are absolutely right!

Tastes Like

Bright yellow with green highlights in the glass.

On the nose the aromatic party starts early, even before you approach the glass. Peach, lime, melon, bergamont, passion fruit, pineapple, jasmine and lemon blossoms have a field day, accompanied by botanical and herbal aromas of mint.

Moderate volume body with characteristic oily texture and balanced acidity that adds energy. Intense palate aromas of melon, mango, passion fruit, lime, peach and mint. Long-lasting aftertaste is overflowing with freshness.

MALAGOUZIA 2017- MPOUGIOURIS ESTATE

PAIR IT

Combine with sushi, seafood with lemon and stuffed tomatoes

Shrimps with peas and ginger

  • 3 tbsps. of olive oil
  • 300 grams of mushrooms cut into four
  • 1/3 cup of peas
  • 8 large shrimps peeled
  • 1 tsp. grated ginger
  • 3 tbsps. of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. vinegar of white wine

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan, on high heat. Add the mushrooms and let them soften by stirring, about 5 minutes. Remove them from the pan and put them on an absorbent paper.

Add the peas to the pan and cook by stirring for about 2 minutes. Remove them from the pan and put them along with the mushrooms on the absorbent paper.

Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan. Then put the shrimps and chopped ginger in the pan. Reduce the heat to moderate and cook until the shrimp becomes opaque, about 4 minutes.

Return all vegetables to the pan, add soy sauce and white wine vinegar. Cook until they are warm enough, about 4 minutes.
