Why do we love it?

We love Assyrtiko, but we adore the slightly reformed version of Assyrtiko, with its oak aging and a pinch of Xinomavro! Yes, you got it right, we're talking about Moschopolis 6 that it's simply irresistible!

If you see Moschopolis on the label, you know for sure that it's good! And how could it not be? George Germanis, with many years of experience in the largest wineries in the country, leaves nothing to chance. On the contrary, he knows all the steps for the creation of a great wine. Alice Germanis, Dimitris Paralidis, and Theodore Germanis, the new and promising generation of the winery, follow him all the way, from the vineyard to the barrel. For Moschopolis 6, Assyrtiko grows and ripens in the dry, coastal vineyard of the family and at the right time, it is picked by hand. Only the best grapes are included in the flagship white of the winery. The blend is complemented by a 10% of Xinomavro, which is vinified by the blanc de noir method (white from red), which gives a very interesting botanical character to the wine. After that, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts (to better expres the terroir) in French oak barrels of first and second use. It matures there for 6 months and this is how it got its name, 6.

The wine is bottled unfiltered and is intended for long-term aging because it has everything it needs to go a long way: impressive fruit concentration, sharp acidity, and dense structure! Sure in 5 years it will have become even more amazing but who is waiting?

Moschopolis 6 by Moschopolis Winery is a rich and intense white wine that can accompany even meat dishes!

Moschopolis Winery
Moschopolis Winery in Thessaloniki is the recent creation of Dr. Giorgos Germanis, who until now has been known as a great viticulturist and wine consultant, and reflects the knowledge and experience of all these years. Leaving the vine to express and applying pioneering methods, it ensures excellent quality and ideal fruit concentration, with minimal but crucial intervention, native yeasts and bottling without filtering.

PAIR IT

Pair it with lobster or crawfish dishes, large fish on charcoal or chicken dishes with white sauces.

Shrimps with peas and ginger

  • 3 tbsps. of olive oil
  • 300 grams of mushrooms cut into four
  • 1/3 cup of peas
  • 8 large shrimps peeled
  • 1 tsp. grated ginger
  • 3 tbsps. of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. vinegar of white wine

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan, on high heat. Add the mushrooms and let them soften by stirring, about 5 minutes. Remove them from the pan and put them on an absorbent paper.

Add the peas to the pan and cook by stirring for about 2 minutes. Remove them from the pan and put them along with the mushrooms on the absorbent paper.

Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan. Then put the shrimps and chopped ginger in the pan. Reduce the heat to moderate and cook until the shrimp becomes opaque, about 4 minutes.

Return all vegetables to the pan, add soy sauce and white wine vinegar. Cook until they are warm enough, about 4 minutes.
