Portal do Fidalgo Alvarinho Provam is a wine crafted for big gatherings and unrestrained seafood indulgence! Juicy, peach‑laden, mineral and with a zesty lemony acidity, it is a “great wine” at a remarkably small price! Once again, Portugal has worked its magic!
Provam’s story begins in 1992, when 10 producers from the renowned sub‑region of Monção e Melgaço—the most celebrated area for Alvarinho in Portugal—joined forces to showcase the region and the potential of Alvarinho. Their wines are awarded every year in competitions such as Decanter and the International Wine Challenge.
The name Portal do Fidalgo comes from the estate’s characteristic gate (“portal”), symbolising the entrance into a world of quality and history. For Portal do Fidalgo Alvarinho Provam, fermentation takes place at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. This preserves the aromatic intensity and freshness of Alvarinho to the fullest. The wine is then aged for around four months on its fine lees, adding extra creaminess and volume on the palate.
