DOMAINE GEROVASSILIOU

Vaggelis Gerovassiliou, in 1981, decided to establish his own winery, reviving the family vineyards in Epanomi, Thessaloniki. After his studies at the AUTh School of Agriculture, he left for Bordeaux, where he specialized in Oenology, Viticulture, Tasting, and Oenological Machinery Technology. The studies at Bordeaux left their mark on him and a soft spot for the French varieties. This was not enough to make him forget Malagouzia, the variety he saved from extinction when he was the oenologist of Domaine Porto Carras. Today, his winery is one of the most beautiful in the country and includes a Museum of Wine, too. At the same time, every year, his wines are being awarded numerous medals and distinctions in both domestic and international competitions.
