VINA COBOS
Viña Cobos was founded in 1998 by American winemaker Paul Hobbs, in partnership with Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barón. With experience in California (Opus One, Simi Winery), Hobbs fell in love with Mendoza’s terroir and set out to craft wines that would showcase the authenticity and complexity of Malbec. The first vintage of Cobos Malbec in 1999 marked Argentina’s entry into the global world of premium wines. Since then, the winery has earned multiple 100-point ratings from James Suckling, establishing Malbec as a global benchmark. The vineyards are located in Mendoza’s top regions—Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco—at altitudes reaching up to 1,400 meters. Winemaking is done with minimal intervention, allowing the terroir to shine through.
