Why do we love it?

Chateau Margaux and Bordeaux go together, since one highlights the other with absolute consistency and continuity for five centuries or so. It is considered the most charming and philosophy-oriented Chateau of Bordeaux. Château Margaux 2018 is one of the top vintages of the estate and has so far hit 100s from Suckling, Parker, Jeb Dunnuck and a few more thundering 98s from Decanter, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast and Vinous...

Château Margaux, or as they call it "the Versailles of the Medoc", is one of the First growth Château along with three others that were designated Premier Grand Cru Classe in the first classification of Bordeaux in 1855. Château Margaux with more than 265 hectares, carries on its back five centuries of tradition and historic wines. It wasn't until the 1600s that the amazing quality of these soils was realized and farmers gave up growing cereals in favor of vines. Since then Chateau Margaux has had anything but a discreet presence in the wine world, remaining to this day one of the most famous wineries in the world!

Château Margaux 2018 is a classic blend of Bordeaux varieties. Due to the warm year and the very low yields, it acquired excellent condensation. Before release, it spent 15 months in oak barrels, 10% in new oak and 90% in second-hand oak.

Trust us, you can keep this wine for a long time! Does 2030 sound far?

Tastes Like

In your glass it is deep red with purple highlights. The nose is spectacularly complex with black fruit, ripe red berry, ripe raspberry and wild forest fruit standing out. Light herbalism, violet and hints of cinnamon, smoke, ash and leather complete the aromatic profile.

In the mouth it is full and concentrated with intense but velvety tannins that flood the palette and linger until the finish. The acidity is high and harmoniously balanced with its intense and deep fruity character. The fruity aftertaste is endless.

CHATEAU MARGAUX 2018

PAIR IT

Perfect pairing with veel braised in red wine, venison fillet with bordelaise sauce, pork with bearnaise sauce

Beef stew with red wine

  • 1 kg of boneless beef cut into bits
  • 4 tbsps. flour
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 2 tbsps. olive oil
  • 1 cup of dry red wine
  • 1 cube beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp. dry thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 pack of small fresh mushrooms, whole
  • baby carrots
  • salt
  • pepper

Wipe the meat with kitchen paper to absorb excess moisture. Stir in a bowl 3 tablespoons of flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, paprika and pepper and sprinkle the meat with the flour mixture.

Sautee the meat in hot olive oil in moderate to strong heat, stirring frequently,  for 4-6 minutes or until it acquires a golden brown color. Remove the meat from the pot. Add the red wine, stirring well to incorporate with the meat residues from the bottom of the pot.

Put the meat back in the pot and add the broth, thyme, bay leaf, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Once it starts boiling, cover the pot, lower the heat in half and allow the meat to cook for about an hour, stirring occasionally. You can accompany your meat with wild rice.
