Why do we love it?

Kir Yiannis also makes a fabulous Mavrodaphne! Yes, you read that right! Daphne Kir Yianni is a Mavrodaphne from Naoussa, with unparalleled finesse and tones of juicy red fruits and purple flowers.

We really like the new "experiments" of Stellios Boutaris at the Kir Yiannis Estate. It started with a Malagouzia, later came the Cuvee Scaperdas Freres and next to it we also met Daphne, a Mavrodaphne different from the others! But how did Mavrodaphne get to Naoussa? In 2005, it was planted in the privately owned vineyards of the winery, in Naoussa, for no apparent reason. Maybe they wanted to use it as a blending component, maybe they knew that in the future a single varietal expression would impress the wineloving audience. The grapes were picked at the right time and the wine fermented and matured in oak tonneaux for 12 months to create Daphne Kir Yianni.

More delicate and more aromatic than the ones you have tried, it is ready to accompany elegant meat dishes!

Tastes Like

Daphne Kir Yianni has moderate ruby color and intoxicating aromas of violet, lavender, laurel, vanilla, pepper, cinnamon, cherry, sour cherry, blueberry and plum.

In the mouth it has medium body, moderate (+) acidity and mellow tannins. Juicy red and black fruits are mixed with notes of herbs, spices, tea and purple flowers in an impressive bouquet.

DAPHNE 2017 - KTIMA KIR-YIANNI

PAIR IT

Pair it with beef filet with red wine reduction, lamb with rosemary, Peking duck

Lamb with honey and rosemary

  • 4 racks of lamb with 3 lamb chops each

for the marinade:

  • 2 tbsp chopped rosemary
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 125ml red wine

Marinade: Mix rosemary, honey, garlic and wine in a large bowl. Put the racks in and cover them with the marinade. Marinate for 10 '

Drain the racks and put them in a baking pan that has been brushed with oil. Bake for 20 minutes, or according to your preference, in a preheated oven in 200 degrees (Celsius).
