Why do we love it?

Indulge in a true collector’s treasure: Morey-Saint-Denis 2022 from Domaine des Lambrays. This legendary Burgundy is celebrated for its refined elegance, vibrant fruit purity, and unmistakable terroir-driven character. Coveted by connoisseurs worldwide, it’s no wonder it earned 93 points from both Decanter and James Suckling. Whether you're treating yourself or selecting an unforgettable gift, this bottle promises an experience that transcends the ordinary.

Domaine des Lambrays sits at the heart of Côte de Nuits in Burgundy and is one of the region’s most historic and iconic estates. Clos des Lambrays, the crown jewel of Domaine des Lambrays, is often compared to Bordeaux’s iconic Mouton-Rothschild—and with good reason. Both estates boast centuries-old legacies (Clos des Lambrays was first documented in 1365), exceptional terroir, and wines that command global admiration. Interestingly, their formal recognition came relatively late: Mouton achieved First Growth status in 1973, while Clos des Lambrays was elevated to Grand Cru in 1981. Today, both stand as symbols of timeless excellence and the enduring power of great winemaking. The jewel of the domaine is undoubtedly the Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru, a near-monopole vineyard covering 8.84 hectares, of which 8.66 are owned by the domaine.

Alongside this Grand Cru, the estate also produces Morey-Saint-Denis 2022, a wine that pays tribute to the village that hosts the Domaine. Grapes for this cuvée come from four Pinot Noir parcels planted just above Clos des Lambrays. Winemaking, led by Jacques Devauges (formerly of Clos de Tart), is carried out with the same precision and care as the Grand Cru. Fermentation is done with ambient yeasts and includes 50% whole bunches. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels (with around 10–20% new oak) in the Domaine's 17th-century underground cellars for 12–18 months. The result is ethereal, with explosive fruit intensity and beautifully refined tannins.

MOREY-SAINT-DENIS 2022 DOMAINE DES LAMBRAYS

PAIR IT

Pair it with duck confit with orange, duck rillettes, pigeon in a cognac and herb sauce, or fillet of beef with wild mushrooms.

Roasted duck

1 duck, about 3 kg
1 kg of potatoes, peeled, cut into large pieces
4 onions, chopped
50g of duck fat
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tablespoon chopped sage
2 lemon zest

Preheat the oven to 220 ° C.

Season the duck with salt and pepper in the cavity.

Boil the potatoes in salted water until soft, then drain them well and mush them. Fry the onions in duck fat until they get a golden brown colour. Add the garlic to the potato puree and mix with sage, lemon zest and pepper. Put the mixture in the duck's cavity. Put the duck on a spacious baking tray in the middle of the oven. Bake for 30 minutes in 220 ° C.
Then, lower the temperature to 180 C or 160 C and roast the dusk for 2 ½ hours.
When the duck is cooked, remove it from the oven and leave it to rest for 15 minutes.
We recommend serving it with red cabbage and baked potatoes.
