Why do we love it?

Beaujolais La Galoche Domaine Saint-Cyr is a wonderful expression of Gamay and Beaujolais, with intense fruit and fine character. Beaujolais makes not only the Nouveaux "fruit bomb" but also some pretty serious wines like La Galoche! Try it and you will understand!

Raphael Saint-Cyr is the fourth generation in the Domaine Saint-Cyr, created by his great-grandfather, Pierre Saint-Cyr. The estate is located in Anse, at the southern tip of Beaujolais, and since Raphael took over, in 2008, has acquired vineyards further north, in the crus of Morgon, Regnié, Chénas and Moulin-à-Vent. Having seen his grandfather and uncle get sick from the chemicals used in the vineyard, Raphael was persuaded to apply certified organic viticulture to all his 23 hectares, making Domaine Saint Cyr one of the largest organic domaines in Beaujolais.

Beaujolais La Galoche Domaine Saint-Cyr comes from the estate's largest vineyard, Les Pierres dorées, from vines planted in 1950-2010. The grapes are subjected to carbonate maceration (maceration carbonique) for 6 days and then the wine is fermented with ambient yeasts in concrete tanks where it matures for 6 months. The result is juicy and fruity with silky tannins.

Tastes Like

Beaujolais La Galoche Domaine Saint-Cyr has medium purple color and intoxicating aromas of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, tea and toffee.

In the mouth it has medium (-) body, crisp acidity and silky tannins. Juicy red fruits are mixed with earthy notes, hints of cinnamon and purple flowers.

PAIR IT

Perfect pairing with pizza, tuna tataki, sushi bowl

Pizza with prosciutto and arugula

  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. of grated red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. oregano
  • 2 tbsps. of olive oil
  • 1 ball of pizza dough, flattened
  • 3/4 cup mozzarella, grated
  • 4 slices of prosciutto, cut into four
  • 1/4 cup mushrooms cut into slices
  • 1/2 small red onion, sliced ​​thinly
  • 1-2 tbsps. Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 cup of rocket

Preheat the oven to 200oC.

In a bowl, mix tomato sauce, oregano and red pepper. Apply the mixture over the flattened pizza dough. Cover with the half grated mozzarella.

Spread prosciutto, mushrooms and onion evenly and sprinkle with the rest of the mozzarella.

Brush the dough crust with olive oil and sprinkle with the grated parmesan cheese.

Place the pizza on baking paper sheet and bake until the cheese gets a golden color, about 10 to 12 minutes.

While the pizza is in the oven, put the rocket, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a little salt in a small bowl and mix it up.

Remove the pizza from the oven. Let it cool for 5 minutes and then apply the rocket mix. Cut the pizza and serve it warm or at room temperature.
