The Limnio 2022 from Ktima Romalidi might just be one of the most genuine expressions of this ancient Greek variety. With its full body, vibrant fruit character and silky tannins, it proves exactly why organic farming and winemaking are worth the commitment. This is a wine that’s hard to forget once you’ve tasted it.
Sit at the same table with Nikos Romalidis, and it becomes immediately clear how deeply he cares for his craft. His relationship with the vineyard and the wine is guided by love, honesty, and respect. And once you learn the family story, it all makes sense. As a third-generation grower, Nikos inherited the knowledge and wisdom of his father and grandfather. Today, in the village of Ampeloi in Serres, near Lake Kerkini in Northern Greece, the Romalidi family has been cultivating their vineyards organically since 2004. Combining his childhood experience in the vineyard with his academic background as an agronomist, Nikos crafts wines that honor both nature and heritage.
Limnio 2022 from Romalidis Estate is an unpretentious yet deeply characterful expression of the variety, crafted through hand harvesting and minimal intervention. Following fermentation in stainless steel tanks, a portion of the wine was aged in second-use barrels for four months before being blended back with the rest. The result is a wine of balance, freshness, refined tannins, and remarkable depth — a wine that honors the land and authentically showcases the unique terroir of the region.
It absolutely deserves a spot in your wine fridge!
