Catena Alta Malbec 2022 is the epitome of Argentine Malbec from high-altitude vineyards and proudly embodies the entire philosophy of the Catena family. An opaque color, impeccable fruit concentration, vibrant acidity, and intoxicating aromas of violet, lavender, and pepper will win you over from the very first sip—just as they did with James Suckling, who awarded it 93 points.
The winery’s history begins in 1902, when Nicola Catena planted his first vineyards in Mendoza. His grandson, Nicolás Catena, is widely regarded as the man who redefined Argentine wine by investing in high-altitude vineyards at the foothills of the Andes, firmly believing they could produce world‑class wines. History has proven him right.
Catena Alta Malbec 2022 comes from carefully selected plots of the Angélica, La Pirámide, Nicasia, Angélica Sur, and Adrianna vineyards, at elevations ranging from 920 to 1,450 meters. It masterfully combines the generosity and fruit purity of Luján de Cuyo with the freshness and intensity of the Valle de Uco. The wine ferments and matures for 18 months in French oak barrels, and the result is nothing short of breathtaking.
