For quite some time now, Magoutes Winery has been gaining a loyal following among the most discerning wine enthusiasts. The main reason is the rare Moschomavro. If you haven’t heard of it yet, get ready — you’ll want to remember the name! Magoutes Moschomavro is the red wine that will captivate you from the very first sip with its explosive aromatic character and remarkable freshness.
Dimitris Diamantis, a third‑generation vine grower and winemaker, took the bold step of fully modernizing his family’s traditional winery in Siatista. By applying contemporary techniques with meticulous attention to detail, he has brought the region’s local varieties into the present day while preserving the winery’s artisanal identity. Moschomavro — one of the area’s rare indigenous varieties — became his biggest challenge, as he decided to vinify it on its own.
Magoutes Moschomavro comes from vineyards situated at 750–900 meters altitude, which, combined with the region’s cool climate, deliver a clearly defined profile of fresh red fruit accompanied by high acidity. Careful vineyard management, low yields and minimal intervention in the winery — using only stainless‑steel tanks — resulted in a wine that expresses both the variety and one of Greece’s coldest mesoclimates in the best possible way.
Vibrant and full of energy, it promises to change the way you think about red wine, as it’s also ideal for summer afternoons paired with traditional Greek seasonal dishes!
