Segna de Cor Domaine Le Roc des Anges is a red wine from Roussillon that fascinated us from the very first sip. The typical blend of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah is incredibly expressive, floral, fruity and earthy and shows us the other dimension of the region, without too much oak aging and animal nuances but full of elegance.
Domaine Le Roc des Anges was created in 2001 by Marjorie Gallet. Marjorie grew up next to Cote Rotie and so her involvement with wine was almost prescribed. After finishing her studies in Montpelier, she worked at Domaine Gauby and there she learned things that go beyond science, there she acquired the philosophy of natural winemaking. In 2001 she built her own winery in Roussillon, named after an old Carignan vine that grew on a quartz vein and was surrounded by black slate (roc = stone). Thus, was born the Roc des Anges, the stone of angels. The Segna de Cor is its anagram. Segna de Cor Domaine Le Roc des Anges is made from the young vines of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah. Mild extractions, ambient yeasts, concrete tanks and minimal interventions give a wine of incredible finesse and complexity.
