Why do we love it?
We love this variety very much and it has been seen that you love it equally, but also almost whole of Greece. And it makes perfect sense since its fine aromas and impressively peppery character cover all tastes. In this particular case, add the Dimitris Migas factor to the equation and get ready for something very special!

Dimitris Migas is a man who loves his place. Shaking proof is the huge, for the region's data, investment in a winery that is one of the most technologically advanced in Greece. His ally in all this is the mild climate of the area and the ideal drainage of the soil of the 120 acres of family vineyard. In general, he is the man who introduced us to Moschato Tyrnavou in many versions and the one who decided to deal with Limniona and was vindicated countless times with the result. His experience also unfolds in the very careful vinification of the Syrah, which is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels and then for another 36 in the bottle, highlighting the enormous aromatic potential of the variety.

It would be an exaggeration to tell you that you can consume it now, which is very young, but also about 15 years later, but we will tell you because it is the truth. The Syrah of the Migas Estate will reward you generously in both cases, just hurry because it won't be around forever!

In the glass, is a deep ruby. Rich aromas of ripe red and black fruits, blackberry, strawberry, sour cherry, and plum, with notes of black pepper, caramel, tobacco, chocolate, and hazelnut.

In the mouth, it has a rich velvety texture, with moderate intensity and many but rounded tannins in perfect balance with a refreshing acidity. Blackberries, sour cherry, and blueberry, in a delightful combination with black pepper, smoke, butter, vanilla, chocolate, and soft earthy notes. Its aftertaste is long and impressive.

SYRAH 2020 - DOMAINE MIGAS

PAIR IT

Pair it with rich grilled meats, peppery fillets, and sausages.

Roast beef with spices and red wine sauce

  • 2 tbsps. of peppercorns
  • 2 tbsps. of black or white mustard seeds
  • 2 tbsps. of fennel seeds
  • 1.5 kilos of beef fillet
  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp of wholegrain or English (preferably gluten-free) mustard
  • 3 coarsely chopped red onions along with the peels
  • A pinch of thyme

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • 1.5 with 2 tsps of corn flour
  • 2 beef stock cubes
  • 3-4 tbsp red currant jelly
  • 400ml red wine

Two days ago, grind the pepper and the mustard and fennel seeds using a mortar. Brush the fillet with mustard and then roll it to freshly ground pepper. Cover with cling film and place it in the fridge.

Two hours before you start cooking, take the meat out of the refrigerator to reach room temperature.

Preheat the oven to 180C. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan and cook the meat until it gets a beautiful brown color. Use onions in the casserole as the base and place the meat on top of them. Bake for 20 minutes for medium or 35 minutes for a well-done beef.

Remove the beef from the casserole and place it on a platter covered with foil for 30 minutes to keep it warm. Put the casserole on the heat and along with the onions and meat juices, add the corn flour and the beef stock cubes. Stir the jelly and gradually pour the wine while stirring. Simmer until the liquid is reduced. Strain the sauce and remove the onions. Slice the beef, flavor it with thyme and serve with the red wine sauce.
