He is one of the producers who will take on great challenges. And Nebbiolo is a huge challenge for producers around the world.
Originated from the foggy Piemonte, it is one of the world's most difficult varieties to cultivate. Incredibly selective in the places that it will thrive, it makes it hard for the producers to resist after having seen the kind of wines it can produce. Giannis Papargyriou did try it. And Don Giovanni 2015 of the Papargyriou Estate is amazing and probably the best Nebbiolo in Greece.
Where is the difficulty? The variety blooms very early and it takes longer than any other variety to mature, making it extremely vulnerable to destructive spring frosts.
Okay, the mist in the vineyard of Papargyriou Estate may not be so frequent, but with the magical touch of Yannis and the rich in limestone soil that Nebbiolo seems to like, Don Giovanni of the Papargyriou Estate makes Nebbiolo thrive in Greece.
Of very limited production, it is looking for the wine glasses that will love it now or cellars that will accommodate it for 6-7 years.
