FILIRIA 2008 - BOUTARIS WINERY

A wine synonymous with Goumenissa region, Filiria Boutari, should not be missing from the collection of any wine-lover who respects himself. The historical wine of the Boutari winery in Goumenissa is the flagship of the estate, not unfairly, as it cleans up at every competition where it is found.

Xinomavro and Negoska, from organic farming, in a proportion of 50-50 and maturation for 12 months in French oak barrels, create Filiria 2008, a really great wine. After being bottled, it waits in the cellar of the estate until its tannins soften and the touch of time leaves it scars. 2008 was a very good year and 2008 vintage is now at its best. For the ultimate pleasure, you should decant it half an hour before and laid a table with a slow-cooked meat with a lot of truffles or wild mushrooms!

It has pale garnet color.

Nose that seduces you from the very first moment with its complexity. Dried fig, black currant, cherry jam, cranberry surrounded by sun dried tomato, rosemary, cedar, green pepper and fennel. After a few moments hints of cinnamon, vanilla, dried flowers and mushrooms, make their appearance.

On the palate it has medium body, with balanced acidity and moderate but silky tannins. Here the tomato and olive paste dominate but are accompanied by tea, mushroom, fig, cherry, date, cinnamon, rosemary, marjoram and coffee. Earthy aftertaste that lasts.
