Why do we love it?

Milia Riza The Experiential Chardonnay Pinot Noir Extra Brut is the kind of sparkling wine you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again. Why? Because it's fresh, it has a truly unique complexity, and its finish is nothing short of unforgettable. After this, you might not look at any other bubbly the same way again!

Milia Riza is a boutique winery nestled in the heart of Nemea, Greece and they do just one thing: sparkling wines. Behind this bold decision is a cross-continental family partnership between Greece, Italy, Brazil, and Portugal, blending iconic grape varieties with deep-rooted expertise and innovative winemaking techniques.

Nancy Mazou and Stefano Stante, after years of studying and working abroad, returned to Greece with one mission: to showcase the unique terroir of Nemea through exceptional sparkling wines. And they’ve nailed it.

The Experiential is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, crafted using the traditional Champagne method. The first fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks, then finishes in used barrels, giving the wine its signature creamy texture. It’s bottled unfiltered after six months, with the second fermentation taking place in the bottle. A 27-month lees aging period adds remarkable depth and complexity, the kind even the most prestigious sparklings would envy.

This wine proves that sparkling isn’t just for special occasions, it makes every moment feel like one.

Tastes Like

In the glass, it’s a delicate golden hue. The nose bursts with orange blossom and jasmine, followed by lemon, pear, green apple, apricot, and hints of toasted bread.

On the palate, it offers fine bubbles, a rich, rounded texture, and crisp acidity that keeps everything in perfect balance. Flavors of jasmine, lemon flower, citron, lime zest, white peach, subtle vanilla, and brioche dough come together for a long, elegant finish.

PAIR IT

Enjoy it with light Mediterranean dishes, seafood, or simply on its own.

Steamed mussels with white wine and black pepper

  • 1 kg mussels, whole (with shell) cleaned and scraped. Alternatively prefer frozen
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 clove of garlic chopped
  • 3 tbsps. of finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 glass of white wine, preferably Assyrtiko

Place the mussels without water in a large saucepan or pan on a high heat and add plenty of pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes until they open. Throw away mussels that will remain closed. Pour in the wine and leave it for a 1 minute in the heat until the excess of liquids is reduced.

Drain the mussels and hold the liquid left in the pan. Place the mussels in a deep platter. Drain the liquors from the mussels and pass them through a cheesecloth and then put them in a small bowl. Add the parsley to the bowl, stir, pour the mixture over the mussels, and serve.
