Why do we love it?
The precious and rare Silphium, which was the secret herb of the Romans, gave its name to the Grand Cuvee Silphium Rose La Tour Melas! This is a rose wine that does not look like any other, Greek at least! The inspiration comes from the Grand Cuvees of Provence, where a portion of the wine is aged in oak barrels to acquire structure and complexity.
Kyros Melas is definitely a restless spirit who, after the creation of Idylle d' Achinos rose, the first Greek rose wine in a Provence style, he wanted to raise the bar even higher. If you think about the wines of the winery, you can easily understand that he does not compromise on quality, and his standards allow only perfection. Silphium Rose La Tour Melas consists of Grenache Rouge and Syrah that come from old vines, in Achinos, Fthiotida. Fifteen percent of the wine aged in new French, oak barrels while the rest matured in stainless steel tank, for 7 months, with its fine wine lees. This gave character, oily texture, and impressive complexity, which you can hardly find in a rose wine!
Silphium Rose La Tour Melas is a wine that impresses from the bottle to the last sip!
