Rosé from Domaine Kikones, known for its traditional, deeper-coloured style, is already familiar to many. This time, however, Melina Tassou decided it was time to experiment and completely reimagine the estate’s rosé style, creating a very pale wine that doesn’t shout, but wins you over with its elegance and finesse.
Domaine Kikones was founded in 2004 by siblings Melina and Vasilis Tassou and was the first winery in the prefecture of Rodopi. The estate farms 100 hectares of organic vineyards in Maronia, an area defined by red clay-loam soils and the moderating influence of the Thracian Sea. These conditions are ideal for cultivating Greece’s oldest grape variety, Limnio.
For Limnio Rosé Domaine Kikones, harvest is carried out by hand. Gentle pressing follows, in order to achieve the delicate colour and to extract only the most refined and subtle characteristics of the grape. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, and the wine is bottled relatively early, preserving its silky texture and vibrant freshness.
If you enjoy Provence-style rosés but are looking for something with a clear Greek signature and character, this is the wine for you.
