Malbec Rosé from Acra Winery is a rosé from Nemea that may easily mislead you with its pale color, yet on the palate it proves—decisively—that it has structure, character, and all the credentials to take center stage at your table. The secret, beyond the variety itself, lies in the use of oak maturation, which changes everything and transforms this rosé into a true gastronomic treasure.
After graduating from the Chemistry Department of the University of Patras, Spyros Papandreou realized that oenology was his true passion and pursued postgraduate studies in the Department of Oenology at the Agricultural University of Athens. Having worked in several landmark wineries, he eventually became head winemaker at Hatzidakis Winery in Santorini. At the same time, he founded his own project, Acra Winery, in his hometown of Nemea, where he immediately stood out with his Assyrtiko.
Although Malbec is certainly not the first variety that comes to mind when thinking of Nemea, Spyros recognized that the combination of grape and location could yield the ideal fruit for rosé. For Malbec Rosé of Acra Winery, the process begins with gentle pressing and brief skin contact to achieve the pale hue, as Malbec is naturally a deeply colored variety. Only the free‑run juice is used, capturing its most delicate characteristics. Fermentation takes place in stainless‑steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve freshness. Once complete, the wine matures for eight months in stainless steel and in 228‑liter French oak barrels (30%) on fine lees, enriching both its aromatic complexity and its structure.
Malbec Rosé from Acra Winery is a gastronomic rosé with substance—one that will make you look good at any table and convince everyone that rosé wines are not just for poolside sipping.
