Why do we love it?

Aperol is the ultimate Italian aperitivo, with its signature color and vibrant aromas now intertwined with the most laid-back outings, sunny afternoons, and the ultimate summer lifestyle!

You might know that this orange liqueur pairs perfectly with almost any sparkling wine to create the most refreshing and enjoyable Spritzes, but what you may not know is that you can enjoy it just like the Italians do: all day long!

Created in 1919 by the Barbieri brothers, it was the result of 7 consecutive years of experimentation and an authentic recipe that has remained unchanged for over a century. It is crafted from sweet and bitter orange peels and a blend of roots, herbs, and aromatic plants. After a long maceration process, these ingredients release their full aromas and give Aperol its intense orange color. The aromatic extract is then blended with water, sugar, and alcohol to achieve the ideal balance of sweetness, bitterness, and alcohol content the exact combination that makes Aperol so popular worldwide. As for the exact recipe and ingredient proportions? They remain a closely guarded secret for over a hundred years!

Aperol’s popularity skyrocketed in the 1950s, when Italians began looking for a lighter, more refreshing aperitivo drink. The very first Aperol Spritz was born in the bars of Venice and Padua by combining it with sparkling wine and a splash of soda water a simple yet perfect mix that quickly became Italy’s (and the world's!) favorite orange cocktail.

Aperol boasts a bright orange hue and a rich bouquet of sweet and bitter orange notes, fresh citrus zest, aromatic herbs, gentian, and rhubarb, finished with a subtle hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is velvety, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, featuring its signature bittersweet taste with a pleasant and lingering finish.
