A Priori by Novus Winery is the ultimate proof that while new can be exciting, tradition brings unmatched depth. Leonidas Nassiakos returns to his roots in Mantinia to do what he does best: craft exceptional Moschofilero wines that truly stand out.
The story begins back in the 1950s, when Leonidas’ grandfather—also named Leonidas—started vinifying grape varieties from Arcadia and the surrounding regions. Nassiakos family has a deep connection with Moschofilero (remember Nassiakos’ iconic Mantinia?). It was this very family that brought the variety back into the spotlight in the 1970s and bottled it as a PDO Mantinia in the 1980s. Leonidas
Nassiakos, a chemist and oenologist, spent nearly 30 years working with some of the top wineries in the Peloponnese. In 2020, he decided it was time to launch his own winery—Novus—with a mission to breathe new life into the family legacy and take Moschofilero to the next level, in a way only he knows how.
Leonidas Nassiakos, a man who has dedicated his life to Moschofilero, envisioned a wine that would capture the authenticity of the variety and the unique character of Mantinia’s terroir. That vision became A Priori by Novus Winery—a Mantinia crafted from 15- to 40-year-old vines, grown at altitudes of 630–660 meters, and aged for 3 months on fine lees for added complexity.
