AGRIPPIOTIS ORANGE 2020 - TETRAMYTHOS WINERY

Agrippiotis Orange Nature Tetramythos Winery is a very special wine since we are talking about the very rare variety Agrippiotis (which we have not met before) and in fact, in an elegant orange and natural version!

The Agrippiotis Greek grape variety, is a rare white grape variety from Peloponnese, with a characteristic, high acidity, and a mysterious name. Some say it was named after the Roman general Agrippa, others after Caligula's sister, Agrippina, and others after the apidia tree (wild pear).

The winemaker of Tetramythos, Panagiotis Papagiannopoulos, took some old vines and planted a small vineyard with Agrippiotis. Several experiments brought Agrippiotis Orange Nature Tetramythos Winery to the market and your glass. Papagiannopoulos left the skins in contact with the juice for several days. The wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts and without other interventions, except the addition of some (minimum) sulfites shortly before bottling. The result shows that this almost extinct variety has a lot to say!

It has a medium golden color with orange hues. On the nose, aromas of orange, lemon, kumquat, quince, dried apricot, and sage unfold slowly.

On the palate, it has a medium body, marked acidity, and mild tannins. Bitter orange peel, orange, unripe pear, sourdough, apricot, quince, grapefruit, chrysanthemum, and dried nuts fill-up the mouth with every sip.
