Why do we love it?

Anemomylia Lyrarakis Vidiano 008 2024 is one of the most intriguing expressions of the Cretan variety: mineral, citrus-driven, and structured. Coming from the Micro Batch series, it reflects the desire of Lyrarakis Winery to experiment with small-scale vinifications that showcase unique vineyard sites and how they influence the expression of each grape variety.

The winery, founded in 1966 in Crete, has played a pivotal role in the revival and preservation of indigenous grape varieties, continuously evolving the identity of the Cretan vineyard through modern and sustainable practices.

For Anemomylia Lyrarakis Vidiano 008 2024, Vidiano is transported to a different terroir, the “Anemomylia” site in Eastern Crete, near Sitia, where constant winds influence both the ripening process and the aromatic profile of the grapes. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, followed by approximately six months of lees ageing. The result is generous and expressive, with concentrated fruit, herbal character and a delightfully textured palate.

Tastes Like

In the glass, Anemomylia Lyrarakis Vidiano 008 2024 reveals an elegant yet multi-layered nose, with aromas of fresh herbs and citrus fruits complemented by white-fleshed fruits such as pear and peach, while subtle mineral notes add depth.

On the palate, it offers a medium to full body, lively yet well-balanced acidity, and a creamy texture. The fruit remains crisp and abundant, while minerality, salinity and delicate yeast-derived notes create a complex and compelling whole.

Lyrarakis Winery

Lyrarakis Winery was founded in 1966 in Heraklion, Crete, by brothers Manolis and Sotiris, making it one of the oldest on the island. Today, it is run by the second generation, who continued the mission of reviving local grape varieties, achieving impressive results. Vidiano, Plyto, Thrapsathiri, and Dafni are cultivated organically, with fertilizers derived from the organic waste of the winery, resulting in truly unique outcomes.
