The duo David & Nadia strikes again with Aristargos 2022, but this time to show us that multi-varietal winemaking is not just a clever trick, but an art form that deeply expresses terroir and philosophy. This Chenin Blanc-based white blend has already impressed wine critics, with James Suckling awarding it 93pts and both RP Wine Advocate and Tim Atkin MW giving it 94pts. We expected nothing less.
Nadia and David Sadie founded their winery in 2013 at Paardebosch farm near Malmesbury, after meeting as students in Stellenbosch—he studied oenology, she soil science. Their first wine was bottled in 2010 and marked the beginning of a shared vision: to express the diversity of Swartland through old vines, a mix of soils, and minimal intervention winemaking. Their winery is a member of SIP (Swartland Independent Producers), an initiative that champions authenticity and regional identity.
David & Nadia Aristargos 2022 is a white blend based on Chenin Blanc (51%) with contributions from eight other varieties (Sémillon, Colombar, Roussanne, Clairette Blanche, Marsanne, Verdelho, Viognier, and Grenache Blanc), showcasing the diversity of Swartland. The grapes come from 16 different dry-farmed bush vine vineyards planted on granite, shale, and clay-rich soils. The wine is crafted with mild intervention winemaking, including skin contact, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and 12 months of aging in a mix of French oak barrels and concrete tanks, resulting in impressive aromatic complexity, vibrant palate, and rich structure.
David & Nadia Aristargos 2022 is highly expressive and balanced, with fruit that shines and aromas and texture that will simply captivate you. It’s worth every drop, so we suggest enjoying it with the right company and a grilled sea bream with lemon and caper sauce!
