In the ancient seabed of Messinia, crisp Assyrtiko meets the fragrant aromas of Malagouzia, and under the skilled hands of Psaroulis family, Assyrtiko–Malagouzia 2024 from Psaroulis Winery is born. It’s a wine we’ve had our eye on for a while—and this summer, it’s ready to make a serious impression. Oh, and yes—it also took home a Silver Medal at Thessaloniki Wine Trophy 2025!
In the village of Vasilada, Messinia, grandfather Konstantinos Psaroulis began cultivating Assyrtiko in 1948 on land that was once the bed of a prehistoric lake. The vineyard of Assyrtiko now covers 3 hectares—making it the largest Assyrtiko vineyard in southwestern Peloponnese—part of a 17-hectare estate that includes both Greek and international varieties, including Malagouzia. The grapes for Assyrtiko–Malagouzia 2024 come from ungrafted vines that are 45 years old, giving this crisp white wine its expressive character. It ferments and matures in stainless steel tanks for 4 months, on the lees, developing a crystalline profile and a refined, creamy texture.
The small, family-run boutique winery of Psaroulis family is one worth discovering—and a great place to start is with the Assyrtiko–Malagousia 2024 Psaroulis Winery!
