We’re already halfway through summer—the season that suits it perfectly! Why? Because we’re talking about Tou Augoustou to Stolidi (meaning August’s Gem), now reintroduced as Atropos from Sotiriou Winery. Of course, that doesn’t change the fact that it remains a gem that shines all year round!
In a wine region of Greece that’s still under the radar—Mesolongi—Dimitris Sotiriou and his family (his eldest son studied oenology in Bordeaux) cultivated just three native Greek grape varieties: Malagousia, Mavroudi, and the lesser-known Avgoustolidi. This grape is believed to originate from Zakynthos, where it’s better known as Goustolidi, but across the water in Mesolongi, it delivers truly unique results! Today, Panagiotis, the eldest son, is at the helm, continuing the family tradition with Goustolidi, now bottled as Atropos 2024 – Sotiriou Winery.
With floral aromas, fresh fruit, and a character full of finesse, this is a wine that, no matter when you enjoy it, will amaze you with how it manages to capture the essence of summer in your glass.
Just in case—make a note of the name Sotiriou...
