Chardonnay Fumé from Muses Estate is our latest obsession, as it beautifully brings together fruit, a refined spicy edge, a subtle oaky character, and a creamy texture! It is the Chardonnay for you if you favour rich whites with timeless elegance!
Muses Estate was established by the Zacharias family in 1947 in Askri, Viotia. In recent years, the Zacharias brothers have been experimenting with both rare Greek grape varieties and international ones.
With the Chardonnay Fumé from Muses Estate, we find ourselves “between two worlds”. On the one hand, there is a single vineyard plot where the parcels selected specifically for Chardonnay Fumé differ in soil composition (with a higher clay content). This distinction grants the grapes greater concentration and ageing potential. On the other hand, in the winery, the wine is primarily aged for eight months in mostly new oak barrels of 300 and 500 litres, the majority of which have been treated with steam rather than fire, using the Aquaflex technique. This approach offers a more elegant expression of the oak. Why are we between two worlds? Because we enjoy the freshness and minerality that characterise the great Chardonnays of the Old World, combined with the rich, ripe fruit reminiscent of the New World.
Try Chardonnay Fumé from Muses Estate if you would like to enjoy a truly well-crafted Chardonnay with a gentle caress of oak!
