Chardonnay 2023 from Domaine Kikones is an exceptional expression of the variety, crafted in one of the most classic vinifications on Greek soil. A rich white wine with impressive aromatic and flavor concentration, showcasing the best characteristics of the grape, perfectly combined with the noble qualities of French oak.
Domaine Kikones is the first winery established in the prefecture of Rhodope, with the mission of reviving the viticultural zone of Thrace. It was founded in 2004 by Melina Tassou, an agronomist and oenologist trained in Bordeaux, together with her brother Vasilis Tassou, an agronomist specializing in Food Economy and Marketing. The winery owns 100 acres of organically cultivated vineyards, planted in the historic region of Maroneia, renowned for its unique microclimate that is influenced by the Thracian Sea. The name Kikones was chosen to honor the ancient Thracian people who produced wine in the area 2,500 years ago.
For Chardonnay 2023 Kikones, both traditional and modern techniques were employed. One-third of the wine fermented in new French oak barrels, while the remaining two-thirds fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures, preserving freshness and fruit aromas. The wine spent several months on the lees with regular stirring, gaining a delightful creamy texture and structure. It then matured for 7 months in French oak barrels, achieving remarkable balance and complexity.
This Chardonnay offers the aromatic complexity you seek, both now and as it evolves beautifully over time. Taste it today!
