Why do we love it?

At the foot of the Vosges Mountains, in the picturesque village of Bergheim in Alsace, the Lorentz family has been cultivating the land with passion and respect for seven generations. Rooted in generations of French winemaking tradition, the Gewürztraminer Réserve 2022 – Gustave Lorentz is more than just a wine; it’s a story brought to life in every glass.

Gustave Lorentz winery is one of the most historic and iconic in Alsace, with roots dating back to 1836. Located in the medieval village of Bergheim, in the heart of Alsace’s wine-growing region, it has remained a family-run estate for over seven generations. The Gewürztraminer Réserve 2022 is made from grapes grown in the clay- and limestone-rich soils of the Bergheim vineyards.

The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the grape’s vibrant aromas. It then ages on its lees for several months, enhancing its structure and complexity. Despite its intense aromas of fruit, rose, honey, and ginger, the wine is dry, making it perfect for food and wine experimentation.

If you love aromatic wines, you’re going to fall for the Gewürztraminer Réserve 2022 – Gustave Lorentz.

Tastes Like

From the very first glance, its brilliant golden-yellow color hints at something special. On the nose, it bursts with rose petals, lychee, mango, apricot, and passion fruit, while subtle notes of nutmeg and ginger add depth and an exotic twist.

On the palate, it’s rich and full-bodied, with ripe, sweet fruit and mellow acidity. Despite the aromatic intensity, the finish is surprisingly dry, leaving a sense of elegance and purity.

Salad with smoked trout, green apple and herbs

For the salad
1 pack of mixed lola and arugula salad
1 fillet of smoked trout
1 green apple
1 finocchio
3 radishes
3-4 walnuts
trout eggs, optional

For dressing
2 green onions
15 gr dill
10 g fennel
1 clove of garlic
20 ml. vinegar of white wine
1 lemon
40 ml. olive oil
Freshly ground pepper
Coarse salt

Prepare the dressing: In a food processor (multi), mix all the ingredients for the dressing, by adding the olive oil in the end, while tasting and seasoning.

Finely chop the finocchio, chunk the green apple and the two radishes, put them in a bowl and add half the quantity of trout fillet, which you have crumbled with your hands.

Pour half the amount of dressing, mix and place the fish salad in the fridge. Cut the other radish into thin slices and place the salad in a serving bowl and sprinkle with the dressing.

Add the already prepared fish salad, the remaining tout fillet, the radishes, the walnuts and the trout eggs. We garnish with plenty of dressing and serve.

Notes:
- Instead of smoked trout you can use any other smoked fish
- In the salad you can add orange
