Why do we love it?

Historic Blanco Terroir Al Limit is a delicious white wine from Priorat showing the inexhaustible potential of the region. At the same time it bears the signature of the magician of old vines, Eben Sadie.

Eben Sadie is now one of the world's leading winemakers and has worked with old vines at important terroirs around the world. In 2001, he met Dominik Huber at Mas Martinet and their passion for wine and gastronomy automatically made them friends. With the help of the Perez family of Mas Martinet winery, they bought grapes and lent some space at a winery to make their own wine. Their first vintage was in 2001, and in 2003, they moved to a small cellar in Torroja, in the heart of Priorat. Historic Blanco has a different philosophy from Terroir Al Limit wines as they concern wines from different sites that reflect the personality and style of Priorat. With this move they strengthen their relationship with the vine growers of the area but also the return of the young ones to the old abandoned vineyards of the region. The Historic Terroir Al Limit comes from vineyards from 9 different villages (Bellmunt, Gratallops, El Lloar, Escaladei, Poboleda, Porrera, Torroja, Vilella Alta, Vilella Baixa) and from vines 35 - 50 years old. The blend consists of 75% Grenache Blanc and 25% Macabeu. The wine ferments and matures in concrete tanks, for 8 months. It is bottled unfiltered and without other interventions and it is simply amazing.

Tastes Like

Historic Terroir Al Limit has pale lemon color and subtle aromas of lemon, pear, grapefruit, bergamot, white flowers and dough.

In the mouth it has medium body, refreshing acidity and creamy texture. Aromas of tangerine, citron, grapefruit, pear, lemon blossom and sage fill up the palate in every sip.

HISTORIC BLANCO 2018 - TERROIR AL LIMIT

Pairs excellent with shrimp curry, chicken marinated with citrus fruits and herbs, sea bass with pea puree

Shrimps with peas and ginger

  • 3 tbsps. of olive oil
  • 300 grams of mushrooms cut into four
  • 1/3 cup of peas
  • 8 large shrimps peeled
  • 1 tsp. grated ginger
  • 3 tbsps. of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. vinegar of white wine

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan, on high heat. Add the mushrooms and let them soften by stirring, about 5 minutes. Remove them from the pan and put them on an absorbent paper.

Add the peas to the pan and cook by stirring for about 2 minutes. Remove them from the pan and put them along with the mushrooms on the absorbent paper.

Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan. Then put the shrimps and chopped ginger in the pan. Reduce the heat to moderate and cook until the shrimp becomes opaque, about 4 minutes.

Return all vegetables to the pan, add soy sauce and white wine vinegar. Cook until they are warm enough, about 4 minutes.
