Why do we love it?

Kydonitsa 2024 from Tsimpidis Monemvasia Winery has made its way to our shelves, and at the same time, it has secured a permanent place in our hearts. Its reputation soared when it caught the attention of Jancis Robinson, who praised its aromatic purity, pleasant acidity, and irresistible flavor!

The Tsimpidis family, specifically Giorgos and Elli Tsimpidis, have been dedicated to the dynamic revival of Kydonitsa since 1997. Since then and until today, the family has invested exclusively in Greek varieties, aiming to restore Monemvasias wine identity on the global map. The vineyards, located on the Malea Peninsula, are surrounded by sea and mountains, creating ideal conditions for perfectly ripened grapes.

For Kydonitsa 2024 from Tsimpidis Monemvasia Winery, fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by 5 months aging on the lees. This process gives the wine rich body, freshness, and a long finish, revealing the enjoyable and vibrant character of Kydonitsa.

The best part? It truly pairs with everything!

Steamed mussels with white wine and black pepper

  • 1 kg mussels, whole (with shell) cleaned and scraped. Alternatively prefer frozen
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 clove of garlic chopped
  • 3 tbsps. of finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 glass of white wine, preferably Assyrtiko

Place the mussels without water in a large saucepan or pan on a high heat and add plenty of pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes until they open. Throw away mussels that will remain closed. Pour in the wine and leave it for a 1 minute in the heat until the excess of liquids is reduced.

Drain the mussels and hold the liquid left in the pan. Place the mussels in a deep platter. Drain the liquors from the mussels and pass them through a cheesecloth and then put them in a small bowl. Add the parsley to the bowl, stir, pour the mixture over the mussels, and serve.
