Malagouzia by Vourvoukeli Estate is a juicy, fruit-forward white wine that uniquely expresses both the character of the grape and the distinctive terroir of Avdira, in Thrace.
The region enjoys a mild continental climate, influenced by the nearby sea and surrounding hills, creating ideal conditions for cultivating Malagouzia. The soil is sandy-clay with good drainage, contributing to the production of high-quality grapes. At Vourvoukeli Estate, the variety is grown with care and respect for nature, with a focus on sustainability and quality.
The winemaking process is centered around preserving the aromatic character of the grape. Grapes are harvested early in the morning to retain their freshness, followed by pre-fermentation maceration and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then left on its lees (sur lie) for a short period, gaining extra body and complexity.
