The Italian white that shatters every stereotype and rewrites the rules!

Why do we love it?

Miani Bianco 2023 is a white wine that gives collectors goosebumps—a wine that combines power and elegance, richness and freshness, and one that can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s greatest whites, even if Italy isn’t traditionally known for its white wines. The signature of Enzo Pontoni—the man who makes wines without limits and with an obsession for perfection—is enough to shatter every stereotype and rewrite the rules.

In the rolling hills of Colli Orientali in Friuli, Enzo Pontoni continues to write his own legend. A man who doesn’t follow rules but creates his own. His philosophy is disarmingly simple: quality is non-negotiable. With tiny vineyards, farmed with deep respect for nature, and yields that push the boundaries of the extreme, Pontoni has managed to craft wines that have achieved cult status. Miani Bianco is his white masterpiece, a wine that marries the tradition of native varieties with the winemaker’s relentless pursuit of perfection.

Miani Bianco 2023 is a blend of Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, and Malvasia Istriana, with some vintages including small amounts of Sauvignon or Chardonnay. These varieties capture the soul of Friuli, while the winemaking process is carried out with meticulous care: fermentation in seasoned French oak barrels, the use of indigenous and selected yeasts, and aging for about 12 months in oak barrels followed by an additional 6 months in bottle before release. The result is a wine with impressive structure, depth, and remarkable aging potential.

In the glass, Miani Bianco 2023 shines with a bright lemon color. On the nose, it explodes with aromas of pear, ripe peach, tropical fruits, hints of citrus, white flowers, and a distinctive minerality.

On the palate, it’s rich and layered, with balanced acidity and a savory, saline minerality. Juicy tropical and stone fruits mingle with notes of dough, almond, nutmeg, and white pepper, filling the mouth with every sip.

BIANCO 2023 - MIANI

PAIR IT

Pair it with grilled langoustines, seafood risotto, or white meats with aromatic sauces.

Steamed mussels with white wine and black pepper

  • 1 kg mussels, whole (with shell) cleaned and scraped. Alternatively prefer frozen
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 clove of garlic chopped
  • 3 tbsps. of finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 glass of white wine, preferably Assyrtiko

Place the mussels without water in a large saucepan or pan on a high heat and add plenty of pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes until they open. Throw away mussels that will remain closed. Pour in the wine and leave it for a 1 minute in the heat until the excess of liquids is reduced.

Drain the mussels and hold the liquid left in the pan. Place the mussels in a deep platter. Drain the liquors from the mussels and pass them through a cheesecloth and then put them in a small bowl. Add the parsley to the bowl, stir, pour the mixture over the mussels, and serve.
