Potamisi by Vaptistis Winery is one of the wines that has redefined the quality and style of wines made from indigenous and rare Cycladic grape varieties. For the 2025 vintage, it returns refreshed and in outstanding form, proving once again that the potential of Tinos’ terroir, combined with deeply passionate winemakers, can deliver truly impressive results!
In 2013, Yiannis Moraitis gave life again to the family vineyards in the mountain village of Steni, Tinos. Many years of effort and constant experimentation led in 2016 to the first harvest of the 30 acres of vineyards and the first bottling of his wine. The winery cultivates only Greek grape varieties and wants to highlight the distinct terroir of the Cyclades. Assyrtiko and Mavrotragano cooperated perfectly with the soil and climate of Tinos and the results were impressive. This is exactly what happened with the very rare and difficult-to-find Potamisi white variety. The Aegean climate lifted it and underlined its elegance and intensely fruity profile.
Always restless and eager to evolve, Giannis Moraitis decided to change the “recipe” for the 2025 vintage — and the truth is, it turned out even better. Fermentation still takes place with indigenous yeasts, but the ageing now involves three different vessels: stainless steel and concrete tanks, along with 300L oak barrels. After six months, the wine emerges aromatic, fruity, and beautifully mineral, with an incredible texture on the palate!
The dense fruit with the feeling of oiliness and gentle acidity gives it all the qualities to become one of the wines you will consume with passion all year long!
