Potamisi of the Vaptistis winery is one of the wines that redefine the quality and style of wines, from indigenous and rare Cycladic varieties. It is delicate and extremely aromatic. Tinos is steadily giving us diamonds, proving that the potential of the Tinian land, combined with very talented winemakers, yields extremely impressive results!
In 2013, Yiannis Moraitis gave life again to the family vineyards in the mountain village of Steni, Tinos. Many years of effort and constant experimentation led in 2016 to the first harvest of the 30 acres of vineyards and the first bottling of his wine. The winery cultivates only Greek grape varieties and wants to highlight the distinct terroir of the Cyclades. Assyrtiko and Mavrotragano cooperated perfectly with the soil and climate of Tinos and the results were impressive. This is exactly what happened with the very rare and difficult-to-find Potamisi white variety. The Aegean climate lifted it and underlined its elegance and intensely fruity profile.
The must was fermented for a total of 20 days at 11°C but split into 2 parts. Half went into concrete amphorae with indigenous yeasts and the other half, into stainless steel tanks. Then and after the mixing of the two, it matured for 6 months in contact with the lees, in a stainless steel tank, and after bottling remained for another 4 months in the bottle, before being released on the market.
The dense fruit with the feeling of oiliness and gentle acidity gives it all the qualities to become one of the wines you will consume with passion all summer long!
