A variety that got the key to the city when, after many experimental vinifications, it suited the soils of the prefecture of Achaia and even changed its name. The Zakynthian Skiadopoulo, in Achaia, is called Zacharo and it is a tremendously enjoyable wine that reminds us of something...
At Antonopoulos Vineyards, the idea of creating a diverse collection started experimentally and finally resulted in something worthy of the attention of every wine lover. It includes vinifications exclusively of the native varieties Robola, Athiri, Pavlos, Skiadopoulo, and Vertzami. The winery wants this way to emphasize the uniqueness of the terroir of the growing area and highlight the varieties in the best possible way through very elegant wines that simply speak for themselves. The simple elegant bottle prepares you for the correspondingly elegant contents, while the labels are the creation of the Greek painter Giorgos Stathopoulos.
Skiadopoulo is a variety with an intensely aromatic character that was preserved undiminished after vinification in stainless steel tanks. It is very demanding in the vineyard, but the persistence and passion of the estate's oenologists resulted in a very special result. It has a very cool acidity and the intense lemony aromas are fatally reminiscent of Assyrtiko. However, you will be brought back by the strong herbal character, which makes it very enjoyable.
Of course, the yields per hectare are extremely low and by extension, the same is the number of bottles. Move fast!
